Zero waste in the kitchen

source: WP kuchnia   I really like cooking. It always makes me relax and lets me forget about any problems for a while. However, I hate throwing away food and I always try to do everything so as to avoid it. Here are some of my tips how to do it: Normally, I tend to prepare bigger portions for two days or freeze food for later if there is something left. What is more, there are many ways to use as much of food you bought as possible. For instance, when I buy radish, I eat it in sandwiches and use its leaves to make a delicious pesto. Thanks to it, I kill two birds with one stone.  If fruits have been left for too long and they don't look good but still are ok to eat, you can make a smoothie with them.  After cooking a soup, I take the vegetables of it and make a vegetal pâté .  When I know I won’t be able to eat something (ex. because I leave the next day), I give the food away. My friend is always willing to take it. If she’s not, there are groups on social med

Sunscreen? I don’t need it

I have an impression that in Poland vast majority of people don’t seen the need to protect themselves from the sun. They don’t wear hats or caps nor use sunscreens. If people do use them, it is on a beach or during holiday in an exotic country. Scientists claim that we should use sunscreens all year long, especially during summer. Although it’s still spring, the sun starts to come out more frequently and every time it gets, let’s say, “hotter”. A sunscreen protects our skin from the negative impact of the sun which can cause early skin aging and some serious diseases in the future, cancer included. However, a lot of people don’t use it because they think it will prevent them from going brown, which is the thing apparently everyone wants when the summer comes. Two years ago, I also used to be this kind of person. I loved spending time on the beach or in a garden, lying on a blanket and sunbathing. I would use a cosmetic which speeded up getting suntan. My grandmother used to

Ekocuda vol.2

source: Today Show    Today and tomorrow is organized one of the largest Polish natural cosmetic fairs named Ekocuda. It’s the second edition which takes place in Poznan and the second I took part in. The fair is set in a building next to Rondo Kaponiera, Concordia Design. What is more, the entrance is free of charge. Last year I bought some nice cosmetics and there were bargains, too. I was excited for the next edition and today I could finally go there again! I managed to buy some nice things this time, too.   Due to the fact that last year the event was a great success, I was expecting many more people this time... and I wasn’t wrong. The cosmetic fair is popular mainly among women. Before opening the entrance, there was a long line of them waiting outside. When me and my friend finally came in, the situation got even worse. There wasn’t much space inside and a crowd of people made it even less. It was really difficult to move freely as there were people everywhere. I hop

Food is coming!

In two weeks time I’ll be at home, taking a rest before Easter and before  preparing all of the food the next day. I’m not joking, it’s true – I’m planning to rest before... resting! My family is one of those who think that on every holiday or celebration there should be tons of food on the table. Of course, all of it is unhealthy stuff with cream, kilograms of sugar etc. I like it, but after eating things like this I always feel very heavy. Every year there is the same story: we bake cakes, make salads and other fancy stuff and in the end, everyone eats first course and they are   full. Come on, how much can one person eat?!Then we spend time looking at all the delicious things on the table, wishing our digestion speeds up, and finally someone says: “Oh no, look at this! No one is eating anything. Why aren’t you eating?! If no one eats, next year we won’t prepare so much food!”. I wish for once it was true!
