Plants power!

Do you have any plants in your house? I have several: three cactuses, a calathea, an orchid, an ivy, a ficus finsheng an one tiny succulent which name I don’t know. All of them are standing on the window sill, enjoying the morning sun every day. I don’t consider myself a master in growing plants, I just water them one time a week and check on them sometimes in order to see if they need to take out some dry leaves. I also have a sprinkler because some of my plants like to be sprayed with water. They are growing healthily, even though I don’t know what cultivation requirements each one has. I think every house or apartment should have some plants, because it brings a different look to it. The space looks fresh and cozy, just as any house should! What is more, they produce oxygen and there are some types of plants that can also help reduce air pollution.

It's here!

Source: www.gloswielkopolski.pl   Two days ago we celebrated the first day of spring. Although it still may not be very visible, the weather is getting warmer and the trees are becoming green. People are spending more time outside with their families and friends, everyone seems to be having more energy. It’s good time to start a new activity or to take up a hobby. Personally, I feel more positive about everything. I hope the next days will be as warm as today. The weather forecast says it’ going to be 19 degrees in a few hours! I’m planning to go out running and enjoy the sun. I usually go jogging near Warta river, which is also famous for attracting a different type of spring lovers – students from Poznan gather on Warta banks to talk, drink and grill. It’s a lot of fun, too!

Do you go shopping on Sundays? Not any more!

Source: sprzedajemy.pl   The new (or not so new, but many still hasn’t got used to it) law in Poland forbids shopping on almost every Sunday in month. It means the shops are closed for three of four Sundays during a month, with some exceptions before larger celebrations like Christmas. In other words, you can’t go to your favourite shopping mall and buy new clothes or food. I can’t say I like this law. The government claims it should help families spend more time together, but I don’t think it’ll work this way. There are many people who used to work on Sundays to earn more money and they still need it. Moreover, a lot of students tend to work on weekends because they can’t do it during the week and now they can only work on Saturdays. There is also another disadvantage: on Friday and Saturday masses of people go and buy a lot of food, just like the world was to end the next day. It makes shops really crowded and the majority of products like baked goods disappears in seconds.

Wake up! It’s almost spring!

Have you also noticed the positive changes outside the window? The weather becomes more pleasant every day, sun is higher in the sky and night doesn’t fall as early as it used to. People seem happier, they try on lighter and more colourful clothes. What is going on? Spring is coming! Spring and summer are my two favorites seasons of the year because I’m always cold and in the spring or summer I finally feel ok. When I get up in the morning and see that the sun is shining, I immediately feel better and more positive. I’m even in a good mood for studying! The warm weather has also other advantages important to me: I can go out and practice jogging or take long walks. The outdoor activity is really important to me, so a good weather is always welcome! I hope the spring will come very soon. I can't wait!

A nice surprise

My friend told me on Friday that he had two tickets for Lady Pank concert on Saturday and asked me if I wanted to go with him. His colleague couldn’t go and had given him the tickets. I was very happy because it’s a Polish rock band I like listen to sometimes so I agreed immediately. The concert was a special one because of the 35 th anniversary of founding Lady Pank. There were a lot of people, many of which were my parents’ generation which had been growing up with Lady Pank’s songs. Everyone was having fun singing and calpping. However, I can’t understand why people prefer recording the entire concert on their mobiles (what is illegal, by the way) rather than listening, interacting with the band and having a good time. The result is that you can see nothing but people’s phones which is very annoying. All in all, the event was great and I’m really glad I had a chance to listen to the songs I could only hear on the radio before!
